a couple of months ago.. The dealer said dirt got past filter which they just installed. The cylinder walls were scored bad. They replaced Pistons (backordered) Valves, rings, everything. Then the next time out it stalled a couple dozen times. Back to dealer for 3 weeks. They replaced the O2 sensor, ECU and adjusted throttle bodies. It was in the shop for 3 of the 7 months I have owned it.. To be fair one week was for the belt/clutch recall. but still. I was told to write a letter to Kawi KORE and it's been 2 weeks and no response.. I have lost all faith in Kawi

Nope.. No lemon law on ATV/UTV in MA. Sucks since it cost more than some compact cars.

It's a stock Kawi filter. (paper) dealer fixed it under warranty. Have not taken it out yet since the 2nd repair.

Did you ever get to see the filter or what it looked like when they said dirt got in there. How was it susposed to of gotten in there thru the intake under the hood or in the top of filter box under the console. Also does it have a rubber boot where it fits the filter onto the intake opening where you can put grease on it to catch fine dust.

They never showed me, but said lots of dirt and debris got through.. The kicker is after they repaired everything, they said I should clean my filter after each ride. That is ridiculous to me. Now if a weekend trip is 400 miles sure, but even then it should not have to be done that much. Owners manual states 600 miles. Sounds like a dealer covering their butt.

Basically the engine failed due to dirt getting past a newly dealer installed filter. It cause catastrophic damage and the engine had to be rebuilt. The first time I took it out after the rebuild it stalled dozens of times. The dealer adjusted the throttle bodies, replaced the O2 sensor, put in a 2015 ECU and also replace the springs that were peeling.. Then this weekend, the first time after that repair it stalled again about half dozen times. Except this time, It happened on a hill when leading a pack of riders. The result was being rear-ended and causing damage to my plastics and mud-flap. It is currently at the dealer.

Wow, what a headache. I noticed Kawi changed the filter and air box lid on the newer models, but I hadn't heard whether they sealed any better or not. Warranty covering this? I hope...

Warranty is but such a hassle. I don't trust the machine nor do I feel safe in it. Thanks God it was in the snow. If it stalled on the hill in summertime dry conditions, were we may have been going a bit faster, it could have been really bad. The snow slowed us down and allowed for the machine behind me to sink in a bit before impact.
